Marilyn or anyone?
Do you know if there was a Rhode Island state census in 1915?
I was working on Ancestry yesterday and one of there little ads appeared which I think said New! 1915 Rhode Island Census. I was in the middle of something and couldn't stop to click on the ad, but I wish I had because I haven't seen it since and can't find a 1915 Rhode Island Census anywhere in their databases.
I don't think I was seeing things?!
Carol

Hi Carol,
I know that Rhode Island took a census every 5 years, but I'd have to call the RI Archives to check on the 1915. Give me a day or so to check. Just getting back from vacation and I'm working alone today.
I'll be in touch

I keep the following website data printed out and close at hand when researching as there is no way I can ever remember all the different State censuses that exist!
http://genealogy.about.com/od/us_census ... census.htm
The familysearch pilot might be where you saw it mentioned. They have the 1915 RI census but no images....

I understand they are also in the process of indexing the 1925 RI Census.
Best wishes
Jean

Thanks Marilyn and Jean,
This was one of those small ads that changes while you're looking at it and Family Search doesn't have those. Maybe it's coming soon to Ancestry.
Have found the 1915 Census on the pilot site but there's nothing there that I didn't already have. I'd like to see the originals though.

Hi Carol,
Who are you looking for in the 1915 Census and what information did you find on the pilot site? Going by memory, I'm fairly certain its only 1925 that is indexed at the RI Archives.
Regards
Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,
It was my Clerihew relatives. I was just curious what the state census would say about them. James and Isabella T. are the only two who showed up on the family search pilot site for 1915.
Thanks,
Carol

Hi Carol,
Does it list a district of Cranston or Providence for them and can you post what info you found on them?
Regards

Hi Carol,
Excellent, that narrows down their district. I'll need to call the archives and see how difficult it will be to locate them on an un-indexed micro film? Hopefully, Ken can find the record in a few seconds - vs - me sitting there for an hour going blind trying to find them.

Thanks Marilyn,
It's interesting too that there is no sign of Alexander Longmuir and his wife and daughter, both Eleanors, on the 1915 Census. The pilot site has them on the 1900 Federal Census, but that's all and they lived at the same address in Providence in both 1910 and 1920 if I remember correctly.
Must have been out shopping when the census taker came!
