James Alexander McHardy

I am looking for any help to trace James Alexander McHardy, born 1897 in Banffshire, Scotland. James emigrated to Canada in 1924, I have information from the passenger list that he went to stay with relatives in Montreal, but don't know what happened to him after this. I don't know much about accessing Canadian records and would be grateful if somebody could point me in the right direction.

Western Canada Land Grants to 1930 shows James Mchardy, but it does not record anything other than the name.
