Ancestor death Queensland

Hoping someone can advise. My great aunt died in Dundee in 1937 and was listed as a widow on death certificate. But for years I was unable to find a death for her husband. But I recently found he had actually died in Australia 25fh Jan 1936, aged 58, so just the year before she died. I have been trawling to find out more; when he moved, how he died. As far as I can ascertain, they were not divorced. His name was Thomas Russell, born Scotland 1877. I looked through various Australian archives about immigrants but found nothing. Not sure he was an immigrant or if he may have had a relative there he went to visit.That seems unlikely though as I doubt if they were wealthy enough.
Any advice/information welcome.

The cost of a death certificate is A$23.90 (online PDF).

The C in the registration number means it wasn’t in Brisbane. Queensland is a big place.

I couldn’t find a newspaper notice for the death.

FMP has these UK departures for Australia for Thomas Russell b.1877 +/-2years.

Was he still in the UK in 1911? If the cost of the death certificate doesn’t appeal to you maybe it would be worthwhile waiting for the 1921 census to see if he’s gone by then.

Not much help otherwise.

Thank you so much for this, Alan. Thomas was still here in Scotland on the 1911 Census. We still (im)patiently await the 1921 census. It was due earlier this year but is now expected to be released towards the end of the year, fingers crossed. What was most helpful was being able to obtain his death certificate. I decided to order it after seeing the info on the image you kindly shared. It wasnt quite the same layout and unfortunately did not record how long he had been in Australia. His father’s name was innaccurate, but it did give me some valuable information; he died inhospital from an illness. I have checked several ships records in Ancestry and FMP but havent been able to confirm his travel date yet.
