Joette,
Maybe I should bury all my research in a time capsule and someday, someone will learn of their Scottish ancestors.
Has anyone recorded an oral history for their children, grandchildren?
Everything has changed so much in my lifetime I have often thought that perhaps an oral history would be of interest to the family.

Never one to do things in halves, I was a Ten Pound immigrant TWICE....but certainly never a Pom. Emigrated to South Africa by plane to Johannesburg in 1964. My original destination was Zimbabwe (Southern Rhodesia), flight booked, notice given at work and parents advised I'd be coming up to Kilmarnock to say goodbye, as I lived in London at the time. Received telegram to report to Rhodesia House urgently. Coup had occurred and they were advised not to send any more emigrants. On my lunch break I called at South Africa house, laid my cards on the table, and within ten days they had arranged for me to stick to my original schedule. After 3 years I returned to London and 2 years later I applied to emigrate to Australia, arriving at Fremantle on the Oriana. In South Africa I worked 1.5 miles underground on a gold mine as an electrician. In Australia my first job was on a iron ore mine in WA and years later I worked on a bauxite mine in the Northern Territory. Now I am totally amazed that my family tree has branches of Fergusons', both fathers and sons, who were coal miners continually from the 18th century. Then some emigrated to the USA and continued in the same job.
