I should be very grateful for ANY data relating to the LOCKHARTs of Invercargill. They were John and Anne (m.s. HOLLAND) LOCKHART, Kathryn, Elizabeth May (b. circa 1904, Scotland d. 11 Oct 1949, Dunedin) and one unknown brother whose wife's forename was Rose. Brother and Rose lived in Waikouaiti around 1949. There may also have been another female sibling.
Regards and thanks.

Hello Jim,
Looks like Waikouaiti is a suburb of Dunedin. There’s a Dunedin City Cemetery database here http://www.cityofdunedin.com/public/reg ... url_form+F There’s a few John’s there but Invercargill is a bit further away. There’s a Rose Elizabeth died 1964 age 78 a widow.
On PapersPast here’s a marriage of a John Lockhart to a Rose Elizabeth in 1907 not too far from Dunedin
http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bi ... 0609.2.232
I don’t know whether these people’s ages fit the John/Anne family or if they were supposed to be in NZ then so I won’t search PapersPast further as it doesn’t currently cover many more years, but let me know if you want a hand or get stuck.
Alan
LATER: The John died 1960 belongs to Rose.
Alan

G'day again Alan and thanks
Cemetery database - probably second John on the list as he is the only "Native of Scotland". An on-line visit to SP should provide fruitful, Elizabeth May LOCKHART's circa 1904 Birth Extract will detail parents and location. Then look for parents and siblings in 1901 Census.
The NZ marriage was 1909 - IF this gent is the un-named son [John], there is quite some time between his birth and the 1904 birth in Scotland of Elizabeth above. Possible AND how many times have we all seen the seemingly almost impossibilities of genealogy?
Tks mate.
