Here's an Aussie trying to help you out

James Francis KELLY DOB 10 Oct 1919 born Glasgow, NOK C. Kelly He appears to have been involved in WW2.

James Phillip KELLY DOB 10 Jun 1911 born Glasgow, NOK Gladys Kelly. He appears to have also been involved in WW2 also.

There is an immigration record for a James Kelly departing Glasgow 28 Sep 1950

These 3 found on the following site.

Hi Frances,

No mention of James on Christina's poorhouse application in 1904 so perhaps he was born after that.

Did you know Christina got married again around 1928/9.

Thanks, Annette. I did know that and have located the registration of the marriage to James Bomford, her death in 1941.

Hi Frances,

Here is Christina's application dated 15th July 1904.

Address - 20 Stirling Street
Age 26, Born 15/6/78 at 257 So. Wellington Street
RC - Deserted
Daughter of Thomas Lipsett, pensioner and Frances Maley both dead.

Husband - John Kelly, 30 born 259 Cowgate, Edinburgh.
RC, Pedlar, left applicant in Greenock on 13th inst. Son of John Kelly, pedlar and Catherine O'Reilly both at 181 S. Wellington Street.

Marriage - 14/8/96 at St. Frances Church, Cumberland Street.

Family - John, 6 born 16/9/97 at 4 Thistle Street.

Res. - Since several years prior to marriage her husband and she have been following (oops missed a bit but I did take a note of all the places they had been)Greenock, Ayr, Girvan, Stranraer, Belfast, Barrow in Furness, Workington, Annan, Edinburgh, Dundee, Kirkcaldy and Falkirk.

Bro. - Joseph Lipsett.

After that there is a list of dates and reference numbers when she must have applied subsequently.

Then on 5th June 1929 - Widow off roll. Married.

As John was a pedlar/hawker/road surface man, that would partly account for the 'travel'; although so was his father, and his address is the same as reported in the census 3 years earlier.

At least I know now, that I've just not missed his birth registration, at least until 1904.
