this may not be of any assistance but the Maritime Museum in Fremantle has collected a lage amount of names of people who arrived in Frmantle by ship.

I didn't have any luck with the phone calls. He should be on Australian Archives but the site is not working correctly.

Another avenue to try is a page in the local paper that deals with family history queries

email canyouhelp@wanews.com.au

They require your name, mailing address and phone number.

Maybe Ros or Stewie who are in W.A.would be able to ring Katanning Public Library for you.
I know that all the WA country libraries are well versed in local history so they may be able to tell you a bit more about your family.

The Librarian there was Heather not sure if she is still there.

Hi Fiona,

I have phoned Katanning library and they are going to ask around about the Mackay family and Aird farm and ring me back.

They have phoned back and said the lady who could possibly help was not there and they will phone again on Monday.
