At ChCh public library yesterday found the following:
Robert Sutherland & Jemima Dunbar married on 13 April, 1896 at house of Mrs. Dunbar, South Belt, Christchurch. (Would that be Lincoln?).
Age: 40 36
Occup. farmer Saleswoman
Birthplace: Caithness Scot. Caithness Scot.
Res: present. ChCh ChCh
usual. Duntroon ChCh
parents: groom) Robert Sutherland, cooper; & Margaret nee Calder
bride) George Dunbar, farmer; & Margaret nee Munro
witness: Angus McMillan (farmer), Herbert, Otago
Georgina Margaret Dunbar, Christchurch

Robert Sutherland buried 19 April, 1911. aged 77yrs. Rev. McKenzie.
???Is this Robert (above) who married Margaret nee Calder.

I am hoping the above may be a link to my Christina Sutherland born 16 Nov. 1836, Caithness...her brother???

Have you made any progress with this quest? Have you checked on the LDS site as I was able to find a number of the people in your post, and I also think it will lead you to siblings. In your particular case the information does not cease totally on the LDS site in 1855. It might be worth a look.

There was a Georgina Margaret Dunbar b 4/9/1855 Elgin, Moray - parents Robert Dunbar and Janet Sutherland. Is this your Georgina?

You can use the batch number that appears to search in the same register for potential siblings. (There's a good post from David and Bob elsewhere on this site about how to do this). If you've not already exhuasted the LDS site it might be worth trying.

Thanks Liz for your suggestion. Didn't realise I had had a reply so have been looking for ancestors of my mothers & had a lot of help on Rootsweb.
The posting as I said was trying to find relatives of my Christina Sutherland who is proving a nightmare.
Will look on IGI..& will check david & Bob's info. Thank you for that.

Hi again Liz, was wondering if I started a new subject asking if anyone with the surname Sutherland who lived in South Island New Zealand could list their ancestors name, birth, place, marriage, children, death.

Hope you get some information. I think your best bet would be to give an outline of what you have and ask for anyone who thinks they might be connected from NZ to contact you. Even if you get no replies, it's worth revisiting your post every couple of months to update it. That will bring it to the attention of new members.

If you've got specific queries, it's worth posting because there are a few other members from NZ who might be able to advise you.
