Hi Alcluith,

James married Janet Davidson in 1818. The Davidsons were from Oyne. Janets father was Alexander and her mother Isobel Ferguson. I also know she had a sister Jean.
They were married in Oyne 13/12/1781. I have put on another section in the mix for Davidsons

Noted your request for data on Jean Davidson.

Sounds like she is the sister of our Janet Davidson.

Jean Davidson was married to John DIACK in DURNO, Chapel of Garioch. Alexander Davidson and Isobel Ferguson (his wife) were witnesses at the christening of their child Alexander on January 14 1814. Alexander Davidson also witness for son Charles 30 May 1824.
In 1851 Census Jean Diack is 60 years and widowed shown born OYNE and with children Alexander DIACK 33, Jane DIACK 25 and both born C of G.
In 1861 Census they are now at Meartown C of G Alexander 46, Mother now calling herself Jane Davidson ( our researcher confirmed Jean and Jane are the same) but siblings were shown as William DIACK 40, Isalella 43 and Jane 32 (calling herself Milne even though the note says all unmarried - one can only assume the husband died)
Our researcher could not find any headstones at Chapel of Garioch - nor could I for that matter.

Hi mcmon,

Thanks for looking up that information, but I don't think your Jean is mine. My Jean Davidson had an illegitimate son in 1779 so even if she was only 14 then, she would have been born in 1765. If your Jean was 60 in 1851, then she would have been born in 1791. She might have been a cousin though. Our researcher found no headstones in Oyne or Inverurie either unfortunately!

The plot thickens - a James Diack was a witness at the baptisms of two of my Allan's in Chapel of Garioch in 1836 and 1838 - on both OPR records he was living at Rescivet. Did you get the PM I sent to you?

There is a link here on TS that will take you to the MI's for Oyne and Blairdaff cemeteries which both have Allans, Davidsons, Moirs, but I couldn't get it to copy correctly. Maybe somebody who knows what they're doing can!!!

Scroll down to Aberdeenshire and look for the one for Oyne and Blairdaff cemeteries.
