Hi Trish,

This is almost certainkly Yoker, which was in a small part of Renfrewshire (part of Renfrew parish) that was north of the River Clyde. It was absorbed into Glasgow city in 1926.

All the best,

Many thanks Andrew - that seems most likely as the family all came from Renfrewshire - some from Renfrew.

Yoker to Renfrew was a short ferry journey.

Lots of large estates in Yoker at that time-I don't have my local History book to hand but there were definetly lots of farms there at that time.
Oh lots of happy memories of the Renfrew Ferry.

There is a vehicle Ferry near where I live that adds a little charm to an otherwise frantic traffic city. Why a bridge has never been built I do not understand - but rather enjoy the ferry style.

Thankyou for the link
