Hi,
Im trying to find out any info possible on my grand mother Elsie Berekis/Alese Berekewicze. We knew very little about her till recently but hope someone may know more. She was born in 1922 and live on Oxford St in the gorbals, Glasgow. She married Patrick Coyle Downie in 1946 and she died in Ruchill Hospital in 1950 aged 28.

Have you had a look at her birth certificate? In another 3 years it will be online (assuming she was born in Scotland) but in the meantime, you or a friend might have taken a look on a visit to Edinburgh. The same goes for her marriage certificate. I assume you haven't seen either of these, since you don't know her parents names. Her death certificate should be online, however, have you seen it?

Do you know the exact date of her or her husband’s death in 1950? The Glasgow Herald is online for the 1950’s, although you have to browse to find things rather than search. If there is a death or funeral notice it may provide useful information. Let me know if you need help with that.
