Hello everyone
Sorry to but in at this late stage but ..... all this talk of caramel wafers has got the old appetite going.
I am uploading the 1901 Census for a Kelly family at 181 wellington street * :
(Image deleted. The occasional posting of GROS images is OK for assistance with interpretation, but not for general use such as here, as the image is Crown Copyright, - but the information is not, - and a transcript follows TSAG)
John KELLY Head M 55 Hawker b. Ireland
Catherine do Wife M 54 do
Elizabeth do Daur S 28 Tobacoo Worker Lanarkshire, Glasgow
Catherine do Daur S 25 Fur Worker do do
Helen HAMILTON Grand daur 6 do do
There are no other KELLYs on this page 14, ED48 of 666-11
This Elizabeth Kelly's age has got a bit messed up , I don't know in the end what it is supposed to say. Its not 18 anyway.
The family 'above' the Kelly's are the Gibbons
which brings you to the marriage reg
1 1899 GIBBONS PATRICK KELLY ELLEN HUTCHESONTOWN GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 644/11 0060
This reveals Ellen KELLY to have be a widow , ( previous name HAMILTON ).
And Ellen GIBBONS is the informant ( daughter) for the death of Catherine KELLY née REILLY in 1920 at 226 Mathieson Street, widow of John KELLY , Commericial traveller.
1920 REILLY CATHERINE KELLY F 70 HUTCHESONTOWN GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 644/15 0087
So the above family at 181 Wellington Street seem to be Paddycars family - the question is are they also Tusker's ? Could Elizabeth have been mistaken to her mother's maiden name ? Or could the clerk who entered the details in the register have made a mistake . Or have I got a large clutch of straws.
* One word of warning on the 1901 census - there are several pages of persons at this address, and I haven't enough credits to go through the lot to see if there is another Kelly family.
I'm really hungry now ....
