Craignish Black Family.....

Post by andeblack » Wed Nov 15, 2006 9:34 am

Hello

I've been trying to do our family tree for about 10 months now. The IGI has been helpful as so Scotlandspeople. But I've come to a few dead ends. And now need help.

I have managed to get back to Archibald Black in Craignish and his children Marrion b 05/08/1757, Duguld b 11/02/1760 and Malcolm b 06/05/1762 who is our direct decendant.

My problem is when I otained Marrion's birth certificate it only mentions Archibald as father but no mother's name. :( So I can't find a wife anywhere. Nor can I find where Achie was born. Is there anywhere I can find the Craignish records? Especially before 1760's. Any help would be greatfully appreciated. I've been really impressed in Scottish record keeping, as my Mother has been doing her family tree for over 10 years now and her searches in England and USA has taken her forever. I have managed to go from today to 1757 in only 10 months. But there are many parallel families that I'm still looking into. :)

Regards
Debra

Hello Debra,

Welcome to TalkingScot!!

Just a suggestion here tonight at this late hour

If you take a look at Worldconnect, you'll find 375 listings for an "Archibald Black" and perhaps one of them is the gentlemen you're searching for? :?:

Then if you search "Rootsweb" you'll be able to view 745 listings with the surname of "Black"

Regards
Marilyn
