Scotland to South Africa: Gardner (Browning).....

Good morning to you all.

What a wonderful site TS is, I have been reading these past weeks and have read some interesting question.

I feel it's now my turn to post some hard to answer questions about my family.

On March 6 1875 Jane Thomson Browning was born to her parents John Browning and Margaret Browning ms (Thomson) in the district of Kinning Park. By 1901 she was married to Henry Gardner, I know that the marriage was listed as Jennie Browning and Henry Gardner. About December 1900 or Jan 1901 they had their first child Margaret Gardner.
They were living at 159 West Scotland St in 1901 with the Browning family, Henry was not listed. It has been told to me that Jean, Henry and baby Margaret all later went to South Africa. The only information I have after that is that Henry past on in 1943 (South Africa) and Margaret had married a man by the name Thomas Miner who I think past away in 1959 (South Africa). Margaret's full name was Margaret Jane Thomson Browning Miner Ms (Gardner) ( Boy! talk about names for a family history). Margaret my have passed away in 1968 (South Africa). I have never found anymore on Jane and sure would like to. How many more children they had together I am not sure? Did she come back to Scotland?
Did she stay in South Africa? Are there still relatives around?

Jane had the following siblings in Scotland
John Browning died WW1
George Kennedy Browning married lived in Austriala Possibly died WW1
Mary Browning died 1899 Scotland
Margaret Thomson Kennedy Browning my Grandmother
Helen Kennedy Browning
Archibald Browning died at 15M
Andrew Archibald Browning married Jessie Fiddes. He died WW1 but did have two children Andrew and Jemima (Mima) Jessie later married Harry Phillips and went to the U.S. Seattle in 1922 both Jemima and Andrew went with them. I am also still looking for Andrew and Jemima's relatives.

So with any luck some answers may be found

Welcome to TalkingScot.

The only answer that I have found is that Margaret Jane Thomson Browning Gardner was born in December 1900, but not registered until January 1901, hence is indexed under 1901. You can download a copy of her birth certificate from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk on a pay per view basis.

There is no sign of her mother's death in Scotland up to 1955 (the most recent that is available online at present).

SP has been a wonderful site for me to use. I guess the next task would be knowing what to look for in South Africa or hoping that distant relations are doing genealogy from the South Africa side?

Frae a daurk Sou'side o Glasgow this efternin.
I have a list frae SP of all Henry Gardner hatches matches and dispatches.
Your Henry's marriage to Jeanie Thompson is on there in Kinning Park in 1900.
I had already popped eight o' the 60 listed, so jist got yours the noo.
So don't waste yer money, ah huv the cert if ye waant it.
Not my family connection, but there are still a few Gardiner's hinging aboot the Ibrox area the day.
