Oops.....my mistake I thought you were referring to TS.

I should learn to read the post properly

I have a feeling though if you change your user name on SP you will lose all of your previous records.

I asked SP just last week if it was possible to change my user name, after getting someone else's forgotten password reminder for the umpteenth time. They replied "Unfortunately there is no way changing a username once initially set".

When I typed only the first letter of my user name into the log in box at SP, up came my whole User name, and password automatically filled in.

You can change your computer settings to allow passwords to do this. In Firefox go to the top menu, select Tools/Options/Security and make sure a tick is in the box which says "Remember Passwords for sites".

In Internet Explorer, it is Tools/Internet Options/Content/Auto Complete/Settings - and make sure "User Name and Password on forms" is ticked by clicking on it.

Hope that helps!

Sorry, but I feel compelled to offer a warning about ticking the "User name and password on forms" option.

Were your PC to be stolen this would give the thief open season on all the sites you log into. While most of the banking sites have somehow disallowed browsers from doing this on their sites, it is operational on other sites.

If you have real problems remembering all your usernames and passwords, try using a Password Manager like Roboform. You only need to know the password for it and it will then fill in the logins for you. This "Master password" should be long, really too complicated to guess but easy for you to remember.

I've used it for years and have a master password that would choke a T-Rex.

The real advantage about using it is that I have a totally different password for every site, but don't have to remember them all.

Thanks for all the responses.

To summerise, it would appear that SP does not allow (or is technically unable to make) changes to usernames.

I will look at my browser settings again to see if it will remember my password, but not for my banking sites and other sites which may have "personal" information on them.

Thanks again to all for the wealth of information.

Regards
