Hi Lizzie
Looks to me like Sanachan of Courthile - but caution as above - I don't know the area and the likely names of places.

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Lizzie,

Go to...

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/007944

Below the picture is a wee map showing Sanachan and to the left, slightly above is Courthill House.

Either a weird coincidence or...

P.S. Another page about the Lochcarron area.

Janetown is (was?) on the shore of Loch Carron, a short distance from Sanachan and Courthill, both by Loch Kishorn. Janetown now appears to be part of the village of Lochcarron.

Janetown is shown on this map of 1826.
http://www.nls.uk/maps/early/519.html
Click on the south section of this map.
Loch Kishorn (spelled as Loch Keeshorn) and Loch Carron are to the left of this map, about halfway up. If you keep clicking on that part of the map, when the names become legible, you will see Courthill (by Loch Keeshorn) and Janetown (by Loch Carron).

As this marriage is from the parish of Lochcarron, these both make good sense.

All the best,

AndrewP

Thank you all for your help, a lot of information now to digest.
I found a family in the IGI years ago with a Donald and Ann parents who had a MARGARET with twin named Isabel. This family lived in Applecross. They had a son Duncan b. 1826, that fits. They turn up in 1841 and Donald is a fisherman, and no Isabel. This is when I stopped looking at this family as every bit of information I have of Margaret she puts her father's occupation as( Farm servant or Labourer ). The "Dingwall" on the Hospital records threw me. I found what looks like the same family in Ancestry with Margaret called Peggy. The same family are in FREE CEN but the address is ACHANTRAAD?

Achintraid is the way the name appears on modern maps. It's on the eastern shore of L. Kishorn, west of Lochcarron.
