Deleting records on SP

Post by Shortfuse » Tue Oct 02, 2007 11:21 am

Hello again
Just my usual yearly daft question
On Scotlands People I have about 15 pages of searches and 8 pages of
viewed images, many of them nothing to do with my family. What do you
do with these results ? Do you just leave them to save rechecking them later or do you delete them ? If you delete them do you lose the ability
to see them again without paying ? Is there a prize for searching the same info time after time?
regards SF

Hi Shortfuse,

Personally, I've never deleted anything from SP and I have a lot more pages of results and viewed images.

I know you are thinking that by reducing the numbers it will be easier to find previous stuff without paying for another search, etc... That thought kept crossing my mind - and, NO, there are no prizes for the highest number of repeated searches :(

However, SP has now made it so much easier for us to check what we have already without all that clicking from page to page of lists.

At the top of the lists are some links that allow you to download all the stuff into files on your own PC. If you have a spreadsheet program like Excel you can download in that format, or any other spreadsheet format, text format, etc...

I've already done it with all mine and it has made my life so much easier. However, be warned  You are going to see exactly just how often you've duplicated searches

I hope this helps you decide which way to go.

Thankyou from me too - I haven't checked the prior searches for ages - I used to download my own but eventualy found it easier to leave them on SP

Off to try downloading - and I think I could be in the race for the most duplicated searches - especially for the name Mary Miller - I think I have every MM in Scotland 2 or 3 times - sadly none of them is my missing gg gmother. Maybe we can investigate a prize option :)
