on my grt grandfathers marriage cert John Smith m Margaret McCulloch 1883 Airdrie Lanarkshire his mother seems to have alot of surnames ,she was Isabella Kennedy previously Jones and I think it says then Smith M/S Smith . It also says his father was John Smith also[Ireland] Do you think she was married three times.any help greatly appreciated

Here are my suppositions for you.
Isabella Smith (before marriage)
Isabella Jones (marriage 1)
Isabella Kennedy (marriage 2)
Isabella Smith (marriage 3, or returned to single name after divorce)
John Smith or Ireland:
Smith and Ireland were probably the surnames of his mother before and after her marriage, probably after his birth.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi iluvu2,
It seems quite likely that she was. She wouldn't be the first Smith to marry another Smith.
One of my own rellies was a Cameron who married a Cameron from another village.

Hi iluvu2,
Go back to the ScotlandsPeople website and click on contact us and submit a contact form saying that the certificate was illegible. Normally they will e-mail you a fresh scan of that page that should be far more legible.
I took a look at the certificate and I think that first column information is Isabella Kennedy widow of 1st John Smith, general labourer; 2nd John Kennedy, general labourer. The parents could be Tom Smith, handloom weaver, deceased and Susan Smith, ms. Redford, deceased. Hopefully a re-scan from SP can resolve these for sure.
All the best,
AndrewP
