SP link not allowed on DG site!!

Post by Tracey » Fri Feb 01, 2008 8:51 pm

I, just as we all do who use other genealogy sites often mention SP for anyone searching for Scottish family (deceased of course !) have had a pm from the "owner" of one such site saying they dont like links to pay per view sites on the web sites. Links to paid researchers i can understand but honestly where would we all be if it wasnt for SP and Ancestry and the like ?
All i can say is they have a lot of back editing to do !
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

The phrase "nit-picking" comes to mind
Mary
A cat leaves pawprints on your heart
McDonald or MacDonald (some couldn't make up their mind!), Bonner, Crichton, McKillop, Campbell, Cameron, Gitrig (+other spellings), Clark, Sloan, Stewart, McCutcheon, Ireland (the surname)

It’s a bit weird. Maybe they’re carrying a lot of paid advertising on the site and the only pay site links they want are the ones they are paid for. They might have even been pressured by their advertisers to adopt such a policy. It could be something like that but all they’re really doing is just annoying people.
