There’s no need to speculate on the ancestry or descendants of God.

For the Good News on that subject just go to http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ and search for God and there it all is in Black and White.

On FreeBMD http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl there were no Gods, but 16,040 with the first name God.
(Divine Intervention meant the results wouldn’t display)

A census surname search on Ancestry http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectyp ... fault.aspx brings up plenty of Scottish Gods and a smattering of English God..s and God??s. Are these Mistranscribed Gods?

And when I tried searching for God on the IGI http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... _form=true it asked me to select a region and I didn’t know what to say.

But if you check the free surname search at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/index.aspx you’ll find there was really only One God, born somewhere between 1553 and 1854, who had completely disappeared by 1881. Replaced by Materialism.

Hmmm, might be a good subject for a one-name study.

Unfortunately, the only place where this visit is called an opening is on the Royal website - and it couldn't be further from the truth, as you rightly say. I can assure you that the vast majority of staff in GROS see this is a visit, and not an opening. How the public will feel about it when they demand to use the new service on the following Monday, having been lead to believe that the place is open - that remains to be seen.

I can only reiterate what I said earlier on in this thread. That is to say, that the new Scotlandspeople Centre will open on August 25th.

And, as of 25th August, the long promised new, all-singing all-dancing, combined GROS/NAS/LL integrated software will be ready, including such promised upgrades as wildcard options, and searches over ranges of years?

Hmmmm, now THAT I didn't say!

Between you and I MB, and everyone else on this board, - we ALL know that just isn't going to happen.

BUT........................ I'll reiterate. As it stands, the SP centre opens on August 25th!
