I am wondering if anyone can help with a problem I am having viewing images.
I haven't done a lot of work with the family tree for about a year - our first year of retirement and took advantage of two of our children being in the US and visiting them a couple of times....... Anyway, when we returned in January (and knowing the 1910 births would be on line) I was all set to go. I found what I was looking for but after paying 5 credits to view the image everything froze. OK. The image was in my "Viewed Images" but the same thing again. Whenever I try to view any images the same thing happens. I get a "balloon" which says "A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen tab". Then "Unable to return you to Scotlandspeople.gov.uk". Every time this happens I also get something on my desktop with all the details. (Not being that computer literate this doesn't mean a lot!!)
I have Norton AntiVirus. Java Applet.
Hopefully someone will be able to sort me out.
Christine.

Re: Problem viewing images
Hello Christine,
If you haven’t already done so you could try changing your method of delivery to ‘Direct Download’. It’s possible that your computer may not have updated software, or security settings, etc., required to use other methods.
Logon to ScotlandsPeople and click the ‘My Details’ tab at the top right. Near the bottom of the next page you’ll see ‘Image Viewer’ where you can change to 'Direct Download'. This method downloads a copy of the image to your computer where it can usually be opened without any problems.
If that doesn’t help please let us know. What is the current method being used?
All the best,
Alan

Re: Problem viewing images
Hi Alan, thanks for replying so quickly. I usually just click on "View Image" and then it is just saved......!! When I check in to Scotlands People I have a list of all my viewed images and viewed searches, along with times and dates.
I am away to try the Direct Download to see if that will work. Fingers crossed.
Thanks again for your help. Will let you know what happens.
Christine.
