I got it from a friend of a friend - included the expiry date which seems to have been incorrect. I am known for getting things wrong - sigh.

It seems the error was not yours, but that of SP, as explained in Currie's post

A member of another forum has contacted SP and the response was:--

“The code was only active for a set time as the promotion has now ended, the voucher code no longer valid for use but do keep checking our newsletters for any / all other site updates and news.”

I haven't been able to find an original source for the 27 Aug expiry date quoted.
