SP Image problems this week

Post by Ted » Fri Sep 30, 2005 12:22 pm

Hi Everyone - For Information

SP updated their site on 27 Sept - there are problems with viewing images once you have purchased them - the system hangs (and hangs your PC - most annoying) and does not let you view the image - the credits are still deducted from your account. They have a message posted on the site saying that they are experiencing technical difficulties with the new Active X viewer they are upgrading. Worth watching that you eventually get the images you have paid for.

Best regards

Ted

See other threads on this same problem, - it's been about fora few weeks now.

As a first step, try changing the viewer type in your personal profile. If that doesn't work, then see one of the fixes that was suggested by SP to another member on one of the other threads.

SP have told the User Group that they are very aware that there are many people with such image viewing problems, and are working hard to solve the problem. We can but believe what they are saying !

Tracey,

What setting is your 'text size' at on your computer ?

If it's at 'smallest' then the writing on most sites will be too small to read comfortably.

Worth a try anyway ;)

Since Monday I have been having problems with saving images.
I can view them ok, but the tool bar is missing from the top, or sometimes, just half the box options appear.
I have guessed at what should be the save option and have managed that twice, but the image cannot be viewed by any of my programmes.
However, I notice the "Delete" option has returned.

Have you tried a "right click" on the image to see if a menu pops up?

Thanks David
Did that and one of them took me to what looks like my "Save as" page
Tried to access the downloaded image but again none of my viewers recognised it.
Could you please tell me what to click on to save.
i.e. third/fourth from left?
Oh and also what one allows me to zoom in.
Thanks again

For ActiveX you get a little control panel on the left, including a disk icon for saving, and 4 magnifying glass icons, two of which increase/decrease the whole image, one of which allows you to select an area for magnification, and the last of which is a "flying zoom", - which is just that.

For the Java Applet there's a menu along the top of the image but I can't seem to get any of the icons to work............... can anyone else assist?

For the downloaded image that you can't view have a look at in Windows Explorer, and you may find that it lacks " tif " at the end of the file name.
If that's the case then use the rename function in Windows Explorer to ensure that the filename ends " .tif " and this may help the situation.
