Can someone advise where i can find references to deaths on line in Scotland up to 1855.
Does Scots People only go from 1855 for death yet they do early births and marriages.
Thanks.

Civil registration for BMD started in Scotland in 1855.
What you are seeing on-line for earlier B&M are the records extracted from the Old Parochial Registers of Scotland, but these essentially are only the extant records of the Established Church of Scotland. There are many gaps, and, especially in later times, many events which went unrecorded. And don't expect to find anything approaching the same amount of information as in the statutory records from 1855 onwards.
There are even fewer earlier deaths, in the OPR and kirk session records. Approx 1/3rd of parishes have none. For a small proportion of people there will be a MI, - memorial inscription, i.e. tombstone and the like.

death notice
Thanks David,
With trying to tie up all the loose ends in deaths pre 1855 it know makes thing a bit tricky to find what happenend.
The death notices are for the period 1820-1840.
I have tried THE LDS site but now info is forthcoming so its down to keep looking.
Once again thanks.
