Image Not Available

Post by saoralba » Tue Oct 18, 2005 4:02 pm

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I made a search for one of my ancestors, Anne Kemp from Aberdeen, who died in 1858. The SP site has the details of her death but says there is no Image available although I can order an extract. Why is this?

Hi saoralba

Most probably because there is a problem with the digitised image of the microfilm of this record, for some reason.

Unfortunately there are a number of such images.

The good news is that I'll be in NRH tomorrow, Wednesday, maybe Friday, and can have a look at the record concerned.

What was the age at death in 1858 of Ann KEMP ??.......

find myself in the same position here - having found a death in 1873 but then getting "no image available".

Anybody know if SP are going to rescan the problem images or do we just have to pay £10 for a full cert rather than £1 to view image

There is a programme to rescan these images, but it had to wait until GROS acquired the necessary hardware, - digitisation to date has been done by a sub-contractor. I imagine that it's not economic to use such a route for very small numbers of images, plus the fact that if it's necessary to go back to the original register, GROS are very twitchy about letting the original registers go outside NRH.

Quite where the programme is now, I'm unsure, but please appreciate that there are other demands apart from missing images on SP, e.g. there are still complete years missing in DIGROS at NRH, i.e. missing images for years later than those which are available online.

Be assured that the matter will be raised at the next User Group meeting.

Hi Saoralba

just joined the site and starting again with my research after 20 years. Seems we are both looking for Kemps. I have ann kemp b 1777 Belhelvie , Aberdeen f. thomas, m. Margt Jamiesom m. 1767 Belhelvie.
I have Ann marrying alex stephen in 1799, having a son Alex in 1799 who in turn Married Elizabeth Jamieson in 1826, they then had a son George in 1828 etc etc.

If you are still interested I can send you the data I have, but I imagine you now have more data than me on the Kemps of Belhelvie which hopefully you can share.

best regards
