On 29th Ocotober I tried to view an image from a search of the 1861 census and was met with the message PAGE MISSING.
Very strange I thought and swiftly sent a contact form as I had been charged 5 credits for viewing it.
My message was forwarded to GROS by Alison on 31st October.
On 1st November I received a very friendly reply, with an explanation, from Eileen Thomson who also refunded my 5 credits.
This morning, 5th November, I received a photocopy of the census page from GROS.
The bad news is he's not mine
But......... 10/10 for SP and GROS =D> I know it's their job but I always think it's good to give credit where it's due! (no pun intended

)
Regards,
Annette M

Hi Annette
Eileen Thomson did me proud just a week or two ago when I had a problem with a very poor census image. She sent me both an A4 and an A3 hard copy within a few days! I must say I was very impressed

and feel that such good service should be acknowledged. I emailed Eileen to thank her and she followed it up with a very courteous reply. Good manners cost nothing and people feel much more appreciated, don't you think?
Regards

There are three folk who work in this SP Unit at GROS, Raymond Evans, Eileen Thomson, and Roslyn Robertson of GROS who all deserve plaudits for their efficiency, politeness, knowledge, and unfailing good humour.
But please note that they have no involvement in never mind control of the issue by GROS of the so-called extracts of statutory BMD register entries, other than passing on any such orders received via SP to the separate unit at GROS that handles the issue of extracts. As sporran pointed out recently in another thread there are set down service levels in terms of the response time for such, and, whatever you might think of the periods involved, it's unfair to complain before these periods have been exceeded.
Too often in this world we are very ready to complain about bad service, without also taking the time to applaud exceptional service !!
I can only repeat Vee's comments, - good manners cost nothing and people feel much more appreciated, don't you think?

Same cheers from me - I haven't had any dealings with Raymond, but Roslyn & Eileen have always been more than helpful. They have sent me copies of illegible and wrong images, and refunded my five credits. I always reply and thank them. I've been on the "other side of the counter" and thanks are always appreciated.

I've only had dealings with Eileen Thomson, and found her to be very helpful, efficient and friendly.
Yes, I too e-mailed to thank her. It only takes a minute (even with my poor typing) and I think it's nice to receive positive feedback.
Regards,
Alison

I would also like to thank Eileen for the hard copies received.
After uplifting a page that was not the one I expected to appear on the screen I filled in " THE FORM " and received a reply informing me that there was problems with this index and they would forward hard copies to me and debit the credits used.
Keep up the good work it is much appreviated by those of us who are Down Under in the Antipodes.

Complained to SP this afternoon about an illegible census entry and within 5 minutes Roslyn had replied offering to send me a paper copy.
Wonderful service!
