Confusion!
I was searching at SP, when I noticed a death entry for the same name as my great-grandmother. Curious! So I splurged 5 points..... only to find it WAS my great-grandmother!! I've already got this one. I contacted SP, got a complicated reply about the number of points I had paid for, the number of certificates I had downloaded, blah blah, etc. That wasn't my point - I already have this certificate - I've had it for months! Can downloaded certificates be "removed" from my records?

More confusion! I received another reply from SP, I guess I'll have to accept their decision that I didn't download that certificate until last week. BUT.. I'm a bit concerned about one sentence in the reply....

My emails have gone to an address available on the SP site. I wonder why it isn't always checked? I'm just an ignorant user, not a computer whizz! Also, please be aware of the message at the foot of these emails - all your previous emails have gone to an address which is not always checked.

Hi Scozzie,
I think they mean that it's best to send a "Contact Form" from the site rather than an e-mail to any of the departments listed on the site.
Contact forms are very well manned and should be able to sort out most problems.
It's possible to accidently erase previous downloads. It's also possible that you weren't actually paying to view the image, only the search.
If you do a search for John Smith died between 1870 and 1871 and then do a search between 1869 to 1872 all the previous records show up, as do the new ones, but the new search will have cost one credit. Any prevoiusly viewed images shouldn't cost any more credits.

Hi Andy - I had a list of names on the SP search, lots of them I have certificates for, they were marked as paid for. The one for my great-grandmother was not marked as paid. I don't understand this at all - how did I get the certificate?

Unless you have two accounts I haven't a clue how you got hold of the certificate ..... a puzzlement!!!!

SITE UPGRADE 6 Dec 2005
The site was successfully upgraded with a number of operational and administrative enhancements.
I see there was an upgrade last night or the other night, did this not happen before that we all lost various numbers of certificates after the servers crashed. I certainly did and contacted SP and they re credited me as I could prove the file was downloaded on a certain date. There were some problems earlier today but they seem to have removed this info from the screen.......fishy
