probably a no no.....

As a new user I have been browsing through all the different areas of the site.

Some users are much more proficient in searching than others. I am one of the others.

I noticed someone said they had used their own credits to do a search for someone else

An awful lot of
someone's in this!!

I don't suppose there is any way to transfer credits?

I am happy to do my own but I obviously haven't learned all the techniques yet.

GO ON YELL AT ME

Hi Wini,

No yelling...

As far as I know, there is no way to transfer credits. They belong to your account at SP, and are there for you alone to use within the 168 hours following their purchase.

All the best,

Hi Wini,

As Andrew said you cannot transfer credit but you can, as I have done for a cousin, given a trusted person your log-on name and password and let them log on to your account and do a search on your behalf. I would not recommend this on this or any site.

As TalkingScot are always looking at ways of improving the site I would think it would be good if there was a category on tips and tricks on optimising your research on Scotlandspeople, I know they have a good help and tips but sometimes its they way it is written than makes it more clearer, one for the TSAG.
Burns, Quinn - Glasgow, N.Ireland
McLeod, Mackay, Nicholson, McNeil - Skye
James, McLeod, Sinclair, Smith - Renton
Davidson, Adie, Gibb - Aberdeen
Jolly, Wishart - Angus
Usher - Newcastle
Mullen, Roe - Dublin
O'Donnell - Ireland, Alexandria

Thanks for your replies.
Drew I think it would be a very good help for TSAG to put up a tip site.

I should imagine that a lot of people accessing this site are like me who did not grow up in the computer age or even the age of television.
Any TIPS would be very helpful.

Although,,,, I am always accusing THE MALE SPECIES of using manuals, etc. as a last resort, after all else fails read the instructions.

Thanks wini
