Marriage Search with only Brides Name

I thought I had did this previously searched for a marriage using only the Bride's name.Tried today with the reply "Two characters not including wildcards" needed for the Groom's name.Was it always such because I have found marriages where I only knew one of the Party's names.
Am I mistaken or doing something wrong?

I just tried SP to make sure nothing had changed before answering this

....I think you are confusing the search criteria. It is possible still to search on only one name...bride or groom....and leave the others completely blank and get your result. If you do decide however to enter a portion of the partners name you must enter at least two letters of the surname and wildcard(s). You can leave the first name blank or enter any portion of it. If you leave the surname blank and enter at least one letter and wildcard(s) of the first name you get results. I don't think I explained this as clearly as I could have

Best way it to go have a wee play with a record you know exists.......

Thanks for that tried searching with only Bride's name as before & bingo it worked but I did exactally the same before.Sometimes if you are doing a lot of searching I have found that if you delete the previous search without going into a new search eg you are looking for several marriages that it searches on the previous info & that you are better doing a complete new search or you will get ambigious answers.Do you know what I am trying to say?
