Hi Melvinboy,
This happened to me the other day. I tried to buy credits twice, only to have an error message displayed, stating that it had timed out and to try again. When I did try again I suddenly went from having no credits to having 90, when I only wanted 30. I also only received one confirmation email stating I had bought thirty credits and been charged 6 pounds as usual. However 18 pounds was actually taken from my bank account. I contacted SP and received an email stating I had been charged 18 pounds because I had bought 30 credits 3 times and the bank had been contacted to refund 12 pounds to my account. I replied to thank SP for their help, but also explain why I was annoyed that this had happened (due to the error messages being displayed). I had also mentioned that I had read on this forum that some others had had payment problems, so wondered if there was some sort of problem with the payment gateway. I finished the email thanking them again, as I thought this would make it clear that I wasn't 'having a go at them'. I received quite a rude reply stating again that it was my fault and that there were less than 0.5% of payment problems. I was also 'reminded' that this forum has nothing to do with SP, so all comments are in no way a reflection of SP's performance - I hadn't suggested otherwise! I didn't bother replying to this email as I felt my opinion would have been disregarded anyway, but still feel a slight annoyance as I have been an SP 'customer' for years and have never had to report an error about payment but when I did I was made to feel like an inconvenience.
Sorry for the rant, but I thought you should know just in case you have been charged without knowing. You may not have been charged though, I don't want to worry you, but I still think you should contact SP to find out.
Cheers,
Cat

I have contacted SP and im awaiting them getting back. This is ridiculous if this is going to happen it will put people off buying credits.I did not leave any spaces between my number so i dont know what went wrong.I will let you know when i hear back.

Hi
Can I just advise anyone facing the same problem
If you click ok to send your payment ..... you will have sent the payment.
If you then receive a timeout message, close the program then restart it again and log in to check your credits status.
The error will most likely to be in transferring you from the payment site back to SP.
I have also had the error problem before but I did not resend the payment, when I restarted Internet Explorer my credits were there.

There appears to be gremlins somewhere in that case...
I would just like to say again that once you have clicked ok to send the payment.... you have made the payment.
I would not advise anyone to repeat the process and make another payment ....as Robert the Bruce might have said "If at first you don't succeed ... give up"
s
You would receive a confirmation email from the payment site that you could present to SP in the event of non receipt of credits.

Hi there,
Thanks for the info, though, Jim
- I'll bear it in mind if something like this happens again (even though I'm reluctant to use SP again, although this was due to the reaction I got from them, not the actual problem as I accept things like this happen occasionally).
Hope you get your money back melvinboy.
Thanks again,
Cat
I think this is part of the problem, at least it was in my case, as I only received 1 confirmation email for 30 credits (£6) but was charged £18. I also logged off, restarted my internet program, etc but it stated I had 0 credits each time, until my 3rd payment was accepted. Even after then I didn't receive any additional confirmation emails, etc. I haven't had any other payment problems in all the years of using Scotland's People and didn't do anything different than I usually do, so it's strange that this has happened. I wouldn't normally have tried to pay more than once, except in this case the message said to try again, so I did.JimM wrote: You would receive a confirmation email from the payment site that you could present to SP in the event of non receipt of credits.

Hi Catbug and Melvinboy
This thread hasn't had any further activity so I'm hoping that thos is a good sign! Just wanted to let you know that I did send an inquiry off to SP as a User Group member to see if there were any concerns. So far I've not had a reply but hope they may be looking in to it. Will keep you updated.
Best wishes
Jean
