Wills and Testaments on SP moving forward.

Post by Thrall » Fri Jan 19, 2007 5:58 pm

Hi All, is there any news of an advance from 1901 to, say, 1906 for Wills and Testaments on SP?

Would not a yearly advance in line with BMDs be most desirable? or is this pie in the sky?

An impatient,.............. 8)

Hello Thrall,

this was mentioned in the last User Group meeting, see item 4.13 at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/conte ... s%2011.pdf . It is not specifically mentioned in the agenda for next Thursday's meeting, but I am sure that there will be any opportunity to ask.

Regards,

John

Yeah Thrall,

I think I started that other thread John mentions - I was really hoping too but it didn't look likely then. Still, if enough of us ask...!

All the same, it was good to know that a tranch was possibly being considered.

Thank you,

That's always been the case, - the issues being what and when ......., and maybe, to some extent resources and efficiency, as it might not be that easy or the most efficient approach for NAS to do further digitisation and indexing on, say, a year by year basis, compared to tranches of 10 years. Remember that the original project was in partnership with SCAN and LDS, with the latter supplying the personnel (and equipment?) to do the digitisation.
