no mothers name on death cert

checked out a death cert from 1923. her father is named and it says he is deceased but under mothers name it is blank apart from deceased. can anyone help pleae?

Hi James,

It probably means that the informant registering the death did not know the deceased's mother's name. Not uncommon, I'm afraid, especially if the informant was a distant relative, or was unrelated to the deceased.
