I'd like to see, on the search returns, the marital status of the person(s).

Quantum Marriaged
Dennis
With the way marriage works in Scotland, and the multitude of legal ways to get married in Scotland (over the years), marriage status is an undefinable value.
I am legally married in Scotland. Have no marriage certificate. Could legally get married to someone else down here in England (but eminently happy with current wife!).
As you can see, it's not a simple matter. If you are interested in Quantum Physics (isn't everyone?), you will see that the status only becomes a fact if it is observed or contested in law.

Re: marital status
Hello Dennis,
nothwithstanding Mesklin's issue, there is the practical problem. All the fields that we can search on have been extracted from the original records by humans. That is costly and time-consuming. GROS have opted for "thin" indexes for censuses and death records for that reason.
Regards,
John
