WW2 naval records

Post by Orlaith17 » Thu Jun 06, 2019 6:57 pm

Hope someone can help. I know one of my uncles, born 1917, served in the navy during WW2. He survived the war, passing away in 1993. I have searched but can’t find any naval records for him. Only uncles who served in WW2 I can get any military info about is one who died at Dunkirk, and one who was a POW. I can get the POW record. Interested in getting the naval one as was told as a child uncle’s ship had been bombed but he survived, and would be interested in finding out more.

Thank you, Meg. I have used that before to get my father’s records but wasnt sure if I could get uncle’s as I’m not his next of kin. I know one of his daughters is dead, but no idea about my other cousins as we aren’t in touch. I will contact them though to find out.
