Bravery medal (Civic).....

Post by momat » Sun Dec 04, 2005 12:11 am

Thanks to the free search on SCOTSMAN archives I found a report on my Uncle's brave effort to save children from the Clyde many years ago.
I know he was awarded a Medal for this deed but have no idea what happened to it. (He died in WW11).
Any ideas as to where I could find information as to who donated it.

Maureen

I suspect that it may have been the Royal Humane Society, - see http://www.royalhumane.org/. There doesn't appear to be a list of all recipients on the site, but direct contact with them might help you.

David

PS And I suppose the two of you have now finished that bottle of the rather good malt that NZ produces to celebrate our first birthday

Hello Momat,

I don't know if they keep records but the Glasgow Humane Society may be able to help if it was in that part of the Clyde.

Snap :!: :!: :!: And I called it first, ken

Well, not quite, as it's more likely to be the Glasgow one rather than the Royal one doon in London.

David

PS What is the latest news about the polis stopping using GHS and George Parsonage?

David
I got carried away reading about George (first time I've seen the site) as I am acquainted with him and his family.
Unfortunately I also know a family who required his services.

Just seen your 2nd post David.
I only know what I have read but I know neither of his sons will be able to carry on the family tradition.

Kind regards,
Annette M

Oh dear David,

I thought that was cold TEA.
That's why it tasted so strange.

My Husband must have finished the bottle with the Cake.
Typical Scotsman!!!!!!!!!!    .

Thanks all for the Glasgow Humane site.I have contacted them and will see what comes up.
