The Green tree battalion 1918.....

My 2nd Cousin has kindly sent me some photos after we made contact recently.
Amongst them is a WW1 photo -I will attempt to upload to gallery to see if anybody can identify the battalion or anybody in it .
It says R.M Brown Studios Peebles.Some of the caps look like the Royal Scots which was "the family regiment" but as the two Scott men were one dead/one badly injured by then is not my Grandfather or his Brother who was sadly dead by then.
There is a small boy holding a round object with the legend"The Green Tree
Battalion 4th sept? 1915?1918- if 1915 then I think I know what it is.
William Scott was injured in action & sent home to Penicuik& discharged.
Somebody called him a coward & he returned to the Front where he was KIA.He may have been recuperating in Peebles with fellow comrades when the photo was taken.If it is 1918 then it is a mystery.

Facinated by the name "Green Tree Battalion" could you possibly post the picture as you orginally intented.

Will do I think the date is 1915 in which case it's William Scott of the Royal SCots before he returned to the front.Will get 14 year old to do it for me but I think it will be Monday as I think photo is at home.
