Thank you so very much for your help. You may be right about this. I have yet to obtain my Grandfather's Military Record. Once I do I will see if he was posted to Barry Buddon Training Area.

Happy Hogmonay to you all! [5 cups]

Hi

Just thought this link might be useful to you, it is of Broughty Ferry Castle. The castle is open to the public and is free to visit. It housed Garrison Artillery at the period you are talking about. The Castle was used for defensive purposes up until 1932.

You will notice that there is gun emplacements/firing ports for artillery on the photos.

I am John william moffat Davey's grandson. He died in 1973 when i was 8 yrs old. I only know him from what my father has told me (now deceased). I would really like to find out more about my family. You can contact me @: shaun.davey1ATgooglemail.com.
I look forward to talking to new members of my family.

Hello Shaun

We are 4th cousins once removed!

Welcome to [talkingscot]

I can't help you with your Davey side of the family. We are connected through the Corstorphine family. Your great, great grandmother was Georgina Corstorphine (1853 - 1918) Her father was George Corstorphine (1830 - Between 1851 and 1854)) This George was the brother of my great, great grandfather John Corstorphine (1841 - 1918)

If you would like any info on the Corstorphine side of your family, I would be happy to send you the details I have gathered.

Best wishes
Jean
