Success after 20 years of searching!

Post by nelmit » Sat Jan 29, 2022 3:19 pm

Some of you may remember my very first post, made way back in 2004, was about my biggest brick wall - David Mitchell born 1868 at Lochee. ](*,)

A wee summary in 2011 since the original has long gone -

Well I cannot believe it but my wild theory has been proved correct!!!!! \:D/

About 6 months ago I wrote to a grand daughter of his but since I hadn't heard anything I had given up going down that avenue. I didn't mention my thoughts to her but just asked if she had any memories or photos of the family.

I received a reply this morning saying she couldn't be much help as her father was estranged from the family. However what she did say was that her father had told her that the family name should have been........ MOONEY!!!! \:D/ Obviously she hadn't a clue that I had come to the conclusion that David Mitchell was born Thomas Mooney so when I saw it in black and white I had to get the tissues out.

So never give up on those brick walls.

Kind regards,
Annette :D
