Just saying Hello as I'm sure my Saltcoats people also knew yours. In 1891 I have a set of Shedden brothers on board the vessel Ruby in Lochranza Harbour. That too was a fishing vessel and they are my great grandmother's brothers or half brothers (never too sure whether her Daddy was John Shedden). I believe the family were good yachtsmen and continued to be fishermen and sailors in the C20 because my fairly recently deceased Aunt who was not born until 1917 remembered some of the family well.

Mate, please drop me a blank e-mail to my home address if you still have it. I have experienced a major PC crash and lost ALL my contact e-mail addresses. Thankfully, my PC repairman was able to recover ALL of my genealogy - phew! I did lose a considerable amount of personal data but NOT my genealogy. I figured I had a virus and didn't see the sense in backing-up my data as I thought I'd be backing up the virus also. Did my repairman give me a hard time? Did he ever!

I'm fairly confident that the fishermen around Ardrossan/Saltcoats and Arran all knew the MURRAYs (my lot) as they (MURRAYs) were Fish Auctioneers; ie. they'd go out to the boats and purchase the catch straight from the boat.

I concur thanks. It most certainly appears to be "Sunshine" during wartime service. The last remaining relative who could have identified any of the men as one of our MURRAYs unfortunately passed away 6 months ago in Canada.
