Thanks Stewie, I will do anything I can to help anyone on this site. I have been researching my familys history for years and have found that this is the biggest stumbling block, maybe this site can give me the information I need or even point me in the right direction. It was really his parents I was looking for or even if there were other siblings - There is every chance that his father had some maritime connection as My grandfather, Uncle William and Brother all did too.

As well as being the Master on this ship I have found his will which gives quite a lot of info. I cannot see how I send it to you, if you tell me how I will send it.

Re: Loss of the Princess Clothilde, 1861
I remember when looking for the registration documents for two ships I was interested in there were letters from
various sources informing of the loss of other registered vessels inserted between the pages. Some of them made me wonder why
anyone would become a mariner in the 19th century. So if you haven't already
done so it might be worthwhile having a look at the registration books.

Jen

I was hoping someone may be able to help me on this site,
I have been looking for years - I said on a previous post that my 2x great grandfather was the master of this ship and was lost at sea off Newfounland, I have been looking for a death
Certificate for him and where I might be able to see it, or would
him and the crew be registered together
