Tracy
I have another death at sea in 1918, of natural causes, but despite living most of his life in Glasgow, because he was Irish it had to be notified in Ireland his place of birth. I did find his death recorded in the Death at Sea records at the Mitchell Library but no death certificate in SP.

Re: drowning at sea
Sorry for diverting this thread slightly but...........After my posting and reading the reply i decided to go back and look on TNA as i havnt looked on there recently for my missing gt grandfather and my gt grandmothers husband (she never married my gt grandfather) and low and behold he is there in the WW1 Merchant Seaman records ...but.........i got all excited, paid my money and the downloads were blank pages !!
So i now have to wait 'til lthe web people are in on Tuesday to get it sorted but at least i now know he was alive up to that point before i couldnt go past 1906.
