I am wondering if someone can tell me if there are records in Scotland of ships and passengers leaving Scotland in the 1820-1835 period. I have tried unsuccessfully to find one in Canadian records - boat Treaton which left Glasgow in 1828 for Canada (Quebec City and Montreal).
Thanks.
Hugh

Hi Hugh
There are some passenger lists on CD from the likes of ebay.
I only have the one for North America covering the years from 1815 to 1865. The only sailing on this disc for 1828 is for a ship called the Saint Lawrence that sailed from Greenock on 12th July 1828, the destination is given as Ship Harbour? Most of the other ships on the disc were going to Quebec.
All the passengers were from the island of Rum in the Inner Hebrides.
If any of this is of any use let me know.

Hi Roy,
Thanks for your message. I was given the name of the ship my ancestors sailed on (Treaton) but cannot be sure of its accuracy. They came in 1828 so wonder if you have any passengers by the name of Alexander Pollock and Hugh Sterling Pollock showing on your disc??
I am certain they would have sailed from Glasgow to Quebec City or Montreal. What do you mean most other ships on your disc were going to Quebec? Different year maybe?? Our people were from Glasgow or towns near by.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi Hugh,
I've had another look. I only have one familly called Pollock, but they are on a ship called the United Kingdom sailing from Glasgow to Quebec on 23rd June 1865, I'll list them for you just in case.
David Pollock 30 Miner
Barbara 29 Wife
Agnes 9
Peter 7
Janet 5
John 3
James 4 months
William 23 Miner.
I suspect the name of your ship is wrong. There is a link on this site to Lloyds of London and they don't list a ship called Treaton.
There are two other ships that sailed between Scotland and Canada that might be worth you looking for. They are the Triton and theThetis these names do sound similar. Unfortunately neither of them are on my disc.
Hope this helps.

Roy.
You may have provided a good lead with the name Triton - similar in appearance to Treaton. Someone along the line may have poorly written the name and it may have been switched to Treaton - who knows!
Appreciate that info - now to find out how I can research that ship's passenger lists.
That Pollock family on your disc who came in 1865 are not connected.
Thanks again.
Hugh
