William Nicol Lindsay, born in Forfar 1880, married in 1906, and lived in St Nicholas area of Aberdeen. He was a trawl engineer, and I believe killed by enemy action in 1945 (possibly March). I have not been able to find any details of his death, and am not sure where to look - have found nothing in GROS. Don't have the name of the trawler either, although 'Sandmar' or 'Sanmar' has been mentioned as a possibility.
Any help would be much appreciated.
trawler lost in World War 2.

Using the date in the two entries above, I had hoped to find him on ScotlandsPeople, but like you find no sign of him, even using various wildcard combinations.
All the best,

For anyone (such as myself) who has never heard of Captain Pugwash you can watch the 1957 “A Shot Across The Bows” episode (and many others) on YouTube.

Thanks.
My sincere thanks to all of you for your replies. This will enable me to pay my own act of homage at some time this year.
Also, it's great to be aboard - a friend did suggest that I would find this a brilliant site, er, ship. Avast behind an' a' that. (You should hear my mobile ringtone!)
Best wishes, from the 'Black Pig'
