I am a member of ancestry.co.uk. It has directed me to the string I have copied here. They want me to upgrade my membership to see what it consists of. Well no-one in my famly ever went to live in the USA. I'm lax to join if this record doesn't pertain to me. Can anyone tell me who these records are for? My man was born circa 1891 in Dundee, Scotland and may have visited or been in transit to elsewhere. Ancestry are naughty here. First: my man is a British National. Two: I could not find a trace of it from the UK website; only from another containing an advert link. Thirdly you cant get a suggestion from the entries to verify if they may be applicable or not. Really this lik should be part of the UK package surely.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Beckenham1:
Ah the games of Ancestry.com!
I wouldn't spend any money on it myself. I find, no matter how precise a search you do on Ancestry, there are often quite a few that seem to come nowhere near the criteria you've entered.
Have you checked the Ellis Island site? http://www.ellisisland.org/ If he falls within the correct time frame, those records are very informative, giving place of origin, age, occupation and contact person at home, so people are easily identified.
Perhaps, someone who has a subscription to Ancestry U.S. or Worldwide databases will be able to do a search for your person, saving you signing up for something that may/maynot be of any use to you.

Hi there,
Those records all seem to be for the same man, born in Georgetown Ohio, so it looks like it isn't yours. Birthdate is 28 Nov, 1854 and he seems to live in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
