Matthew Morning #2.....

Post by marilyn morning » Sun Jul 31, 2005 5:37 am

Hi Everyone

I would greatly appreciate anyone's input on the name of this vessel and the dates on this manifest a copy of which, can be viewed in the gallery. The handwritting on this document is very difficult to read but I believe it may be dated 16 September 1869. I'm very interested in finding out who this Matthew Morning is and any help would be wonderful... My gg grandfather is Matthew Morning and I'm just wondering if this could be a relative of his and maybe his namesake?

Regards
Marilyn

Hi Marilyn

I agree with the 1869, but would suggest 14 August as the day and month.

Hope you find out more. There aren't all that many Mathew MORNINGS around

Hi Catriona

Thanks for your help. To be honest I can't make out any of this Captain's handwritting

Hello Marilyn

I would agree with Catriona that it is August 14 1869, that is about what I can see from the numbers after the squiggly August :D
The way the second number (4) as written does appear to be the style the times for a four

Hi Marilyn.

I gotta agree with Stew & Catriona as to the August 14, 1869.

Can't make out the ship's name. Can see Matthew and Mary as you you stated above. I tried Irfanview, but it doesn't improve the doc for me.

Hi Marilyn
This is just a guess, but could the Master's name maybe be Hume?

Best wishes
Lesley
