john kelly boatswain
trying to find out what ship john kelly born 1921 27th april glasgow he died 1970 oct 21st in dunoon on his death cert it says he was a boatswain, would love to find out his details of all the ships he worked on . regards catherine kelly.

Hello Cathy,
The file linked by Alan in BT 372 would be his Seaman's Pouch, some contain a lot of information, others very little but usually there is a photo, albeit a mugshot, of the seaman.
If he served during WW2 then the file you really need is his CRS 10 which is his service record from Jan 1941 and if it has survived should be held at Kew in BT 382/931.

hi curry thanks for your info i recieved john kelly,s papers and there was two photo,s of him.i was so surprised to see the photo,s its great to put a face to a name as i have been looking for john for so long.and thankyou hugh for your info i will check out to see if john was in the ww2 its great finding out about his life. regards catherine

forgot to say i have names of ships he served on they are otterburn date of discharge 1963- it says ship now joining mnea-and there is another ship called llandovery castle.
