ships movement cards

Hi been looking at my dads merchant navy records downloaded
all the info from nas site I got in touch with cardiff about his medal
entitlement 1938-1946 I have the names of ships etc but they also need ships movement cards I can't find anyway to access them the code is bt 389 is this the sort of thing I need a researcher for or is it possible for me to get them myself.

I'm not sure if these web addresses are ones that you might have tried already, but perhaps worth a try if you haven't. It seems that maybe not all cards would have survived.

I've no doubt that someone with much more knowledge/expertise than me will come along soon with some suggestions for you. My own grandfather was in the Merchant Navy during WWII and was sunk by torpedo in the Atlantic in 1942. I'd be interested to see how you get on with your search.

Hi Liz thanks for reply & links looks like it is a job for a pro researcher
seems to me they are being a bit picky I would have thought his records giving details of ships he served on and discharge info was proof enough .
Anyway will let you know how it goes

Finally got Dads also my father in laws medals both were in the merchant navy during ww2 both now deceased.It was a long drawn out procedure but got there in the end I will put a post up of how to go about to assist anyone else who is in the same boat no pun intended
I tried everywhere even researchers with no joy there is very little info on how to do it and it is a bit of a struggle so I will post the procedure
