Hi all
This is probably old news, but I've just found it!

You can now search and download the service registers of more than 500,000 seamen who joined the Royal Navy between 1853 and 1923.

Hi Lesley,

Thank you for that' I have found one of my Semple's of Annan and a Merrett of Potterne on it, ordered the documents and got them in seconds, well worth the £3.50 as it gives a description colour of eyes hair ect oh and nearly forgot tatoo's. =D> =D> =D>

Looking for McGowan Anderson Fleming Sommerville Waddell in Lanarkshire. Semple Murray Baird Thompson Hutchinson in Annan Dumfriesshire Baird and Hutchinson also in Kirkinner Wigtonshire and Semple family of Annan Glasgow and Edinburgh

I know its not listed as one of the types of info which is given on the records but I suppose it didn't do anything so helpful as to give parents' names, did it?? Spotted one of my lot on there (rare surname, traditional family first name, definately one of my lot...) but, ....... I have a hunch which branch he might be from but no idea who he is really!!
