WW1 Merchant Ships

I have come across Accounts of Wages for one of my tree covering WW1 they give the ship and the journey, the master and the purser if this is of any interest to anyone I will post the relevant one in the gallery. The ships are "Pretorian","R.M.S. Grampian", "Corsican", "Ionian", "Sardinian"
Anderson, McAlpine, Blue - Argyll
Dunn Fife /ML
Coutts, McGregor - Perth/Govan
Glen, Crow, Imrie - Angus

Hi Mallog hi Lesleyb.

Could this be one of your Ships the PRETORIAN.

The Pretorian was built by Furness, Withy&Co Ltd West-Hartlepool for the Allen Line in 1900.
She was a 6,948 gross ton ship length 436,9x Beam 53.1ft one Funnel two masts speed 13 knots launched 22.12.1900 sailed from Liverpool on her Maiden Voyage to Quebec and Montreal 8,8,1901.--Transferred to the Glasgow Quebec-Montreal service was rebuilt to 7654, tons.

She commenced her last voyage 9.3.1922 and was laid up at Gareloch until 20.2.1926 when she was scrapped at Garston.

Hi Mallog a bit info on another of your ships if it is the same one

CORSICAN -- Allen Line- Built Barclay,Curle&Co Glasgow 1907.

Routes Liverpool--St-John--NB--Passengers lst class 208 2nd class 250. 3rd Class 1000.

Vessel Acquired 1917 by Canadian Pacific Line renamed MARVALE 1922
Twin-Screws a speed of 16 knots 2 Masts,1-Funnel.

Hi Mallog up-date on the CORSICAN Renamed MARVALE-- the MARVALE,s Final Voyage from Glasgow to Montreal by the way of Belfast and Quebec began on the 26th April 1923. on the 21st May on the return log of that trip was Wrecked on Freel-Rock, 20 miles 32 km west of Cape-Race no lives lost-Ship was a Total loss.
