My Grandfather and his brother were admitted to the Blind School in Edinburgh in 1877.
The school records state:
Minute of the House Committee of 20 February 1877 records “Schedules for admission had been received from Inspector of Proc, Peebles, for two young children named Hope, aged 7 ½ and 3 ½ respectively. After due consideration, it was agreed to admit the oldest, and also the younger child on the Board agreeing to pay something for nurses attendance”
What is the Inspector of Proc? Is this the Poor Relief board?

Re: Admission to Blind School.
Hi Douglas,
Is it definitely not "Inspector of Poor"? That was a post in every parish / county to deal with applications for funds or placements in the poorhouse or the like.
All the best,
AndrewP

Andrew
The transcription of the School minutes came from Sight Scotland to a request I made to them.
I thought it may be Inspector of Poor or that proc was an acronym, though as it was in 1877, that was probably unlikely.
Thanks for the reply.
